Paintings on Old Slate Roof Tiles

The materials I have used to support this artwork are original slate roof tiles that have been removed during restoration projects on heritage buildings. The natural staining and weathering gives the slate its own “moody” character, and I have used transparent india ink and watercolour to incorporate the weathered slate into the composition.
